Match Report: Schalke 0 United 2

Players Celebrating after Giggs Goal.

Make no mistake, this was as accomplished a Champions League semi-final performance you could wish to see as United had Schalke chasing shadows in a comprehensive 2-0 victory.

There's still a second leg to come before the manager and anybody else will be thinking of planning for Wembley but, in truth, only Manuel Neuer's brilliance saved his side from an embarrassing scoreline.
Neuer defied United virtually single-handedly before two quickfire goals - by Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney - ensured justice was done. Rooney was the provider for Giggs' opener and then found the net himself after cunning play by strike partner Javier Hernandez.

Sir Alex Ferguson opted for a 4-4-2 formation with in-form Hernandez proving impossible to leave out. Fabio started at right-back with Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Giggs and Ji-sung Park forming the midfield quartet.

In a breathless opening period, both sides carved out chances with Edwin van der Sar worked by Alexander Baumjohann and Edu while Neuer showed his class at the other end. Rooney drifted inside to force a diving stop out of the Schalke skipper, who then beat out a Park drive. Some fine work by Fabio and Valencia led to Hernandez stretching to test Neuer again. Hernandez was then in a one-on-one with the keeper in the 14th minute when Park's astute through ball found him just onside but the Mexican couldn't squeeze his finish under Germany's number one.

Hernandez remained the man likeliest to open the scoring as he rippled the side-netting with a left-footed effort and then made the wrong decision in trying to return a pass to Rooney rather than going for goal himself. Chicharito seemed to be finding space easily and, when he was beautifully picked out by Valencia, it was a surprise his snap-shot flashed across goal rather than on target from an angle.
But it was Giggs who almost broke the deadlock when getting his head to Nemanja Vidic's cross, only for the outstanding Neuer to scoop the ball away with his right hand.

Christoph Metzelder took a booking for the team with a cynical foul on Rooney to stop the England international releasing Hernandez again as the one-way traffic on the German goal continued. There was another major scare for Schalke when Hernandez nipped in to again force a fine stop out of Neuer and Park's goalbound rebound was blocked by Atsuto Uchida.

Moments later, Fabio fired over the top with his left foot  from Park's header down as United tried to get the goal the Premier League leaders' dominance deserved. Instead, Neuer blocked crucially again to thwart Giggs in yet another one-on-one situation by standing tall to frustrate the Welshman with his seventh save of the half as the teams went in all-square at the break.

It took one minute and 13 seconds of the second half to test Neuer again as Carrick headed a Giggs free-kick goalwards before Giggs' dreadful right-footed finish ruined the calm dummy that sat two defenders on the deck.

Neuer was finally beaten with 51 minutes on the clock but, frustratingly, Hernandez was marginally offside when lashing home a superb finish. The Miners mustered an attempt of their own when Juan Manuel Jurado sliced a volley off target following Jefferson Farfan's lightning run down the right and Edu's powerful shot forced a save out of van der Sar.

But the Reds were merely biding their time before conjuring up a way of beating Neuer. Patrice Evra fed Rooney and the striker's brilliant disguised pass allowed Giggs to race through unchallenged to slip home an assured left-footed finish.

Scenting blood, United poured forward and, after Giggs volleyed a well-placed Valencia cross wide, it was 2-0 within a couple of minutes. Valencia touched the ball towards Hernandez and the summer signing helped it on intelligently to Rooney, who gleefully swept past the exposed Neuer.

Sir Alex took the opportunity to give Hernandez and Park a breather ahead of the weekend clash with Arsenal as Paul Scholes and Anderson came on with 17 minutes left.

Schalke tried in vain to reduce the deficit with Farfan sending a free-kick wide and substitute Sergio Escudero's excellent attempt forcing van der Sar into evasive action.

But the hosts, who almost fell further behind late on when Evra shot just wide after linking up with substitute Nani, were simply no match for the Reds on the night and require a Minor miracle in the second leg at Old Trafford next Wednesday.

Manchester United vs Schalke 04 Preview

When United will be playing away to Schalke, it certain that breathe will be held of fans from both teams. It'll be an thrilling game when the title contenders Manchester United play against the team who knocked out the defending champions by 7-3. When the fixture is a semi-final in the Champions League. Both the teams will certainly try to get a start with a lead, specially Manchester United. It'll be an advantage for United if they get some goals lead away from home. But Schalke's not that weak to easily let it go, afterall their confidence has reached sky high by defeating the defending champions by a huge goal difference. Schalke have the merit of playing at home first as they can keep early pressure on the visiting teams, but as looking at United's form this season, United doesn't looks as if they're gonna fall on the away fixture. It'll be the fixture of giants from their respective country. But 2nd leg match can certainly bring some dramas and change toward the favour of any team.

Manchester United: United were on the Semi's by defeating Chelsea, their biggest tittle rivals. To who they lost to in the Premier League while won both home and away fixture on the champions league. It shows how United are on form after a bad result against same opponent. This shows United are ready to reign even away from home and even can turn the results if away fixture doesn't favour them. But obvoiusly United will look forward to have a merit of away goals, atleast 2 which will give them a huge boost while they playing back at home. United will probably play with their best team structure to have merit for playing the Finals. It can be a better attack if they play with Rooney, Hernandez and Berbatov at front so they can in every way can create problems to thei opponents defense. All three are of different feature which can be summed up for a great result but it'll be a big gamble though. Certainly United will also bring up best defenses to keep opponents on pressure. The excellent form Vidic and Ferdinand will probably get a start from centre on backside of pitch, while O'Shea and Evra will be available at the flanks. And playing Giggs, Park/Anderson, Nani, Valencia on the mid will be their best mid line up for today.

They haven't played any match before so as a Manchester United page we talk about only Manchester United. So the match will be worth watching and it'll tell everything. Post match review will be posted though.

Rumour Analysis: Are Berbabtov, Kuszczak, Obertan and Gibson Leaving OT?

1. Dimitar Berbatov:
Its the biggest name thrown by media on the list of players leaving OT, media suggests he is currently being linked with his former club Tottenham and Spainish side Sevilla. Probabaly they might have thought of this just because his contract is ending next year and in the peak time of his career so Fergie can sell him and land awesome sum of money. He was brought to Old Trafford in 2009 from Tottenham and he has proved his worth of more than 30 million this year. So media is unsure of his form and thinks that Fergie will keep him on sale. But Dimitar Berbatov has been found saying he's dedicated his career at Manchester United. And Fergie also have stated that he believe's in him. So we dont think Berbatov will leave United.

2. Gabriel Obertan:
On the list of 10 people that media suggests leaving OT remains Gabriel Obertan. He is often recognized for his speed and for his lack of worth here at OT. He hasn't proved himself much and doesnt seems to be useful for United. That might be the reason that rumours are out that he'll leave United. Even Fergie say's he'll be selling players and land worthy players to United. With the well form of newly brought Javier Hernandez and lack of form of the little old man we can say that he'll hardly get starts for the first team. We guess we do not need numbers of bench warmers so due to his form, Obertan has been either out of team or been warming the bench, so we guess this time media could be right that he'll be kept on sale.

3. Darron Gibson:
Every player wants to play for a big club like Manchester United, Real Madrid or some other huge clubs. But already being with Manchester United Gibson would certainly not like to exit from OT. But the lack of United factor in him and so called "Useless" from fans, he must be certainly up for sale. He has never been found of the influence factor in the game. With the rise of Nani, Anderson and Park he'll hardly get a start. He has never proved his worth so again this time the rumours all over the net of him being in the list of Fergie's exiting player might be right.

4. Thomas Kuszczak:
This Polish international has already been with United for 4 years but get's a very few starts. But among those starts he hasn't proved himself. His rate of stopping goals is not so well than the soon retiring Van Der Sar. And thats why he's been said not to be the United's No.1 after the retirement of Van Der Sar. The reports are even out that United scouts are on chase of No.1 replacement. Probably this might have made him believed that he'll not be the first choice keeper so he has already said that he'll leave United if he wont be the No.1 choice. United have already brought Anders Lindegard from Aalesund and we think he's to young and inexperienced to start for United so soon. We suggest to play Anders in the reserves often and bring him as the option for No.1 after a season or two. But Ksuack isn't worth here as we believe so he is the most probable exit.

These were analysis of United's player rumours of Exit. We cannot confirm if they're leaving or not. But we want Berbatov not to leave. If any rumours get out all over we will analysis them. So stay with us and stay up to date. Feel free to Comment if you want us to analysis any players.

Match Report: United 0 Newcastle 0

United moved seven points clear at the Barclays Premier League summit but will feel aggrieved not to have put the other title-race contenders under maximum pressure after a dramatic end to this testing clash with Newcastle.

It's all about fine margins and when Javier Hernandez was felled by former Reds right-back Danny Simpson inside the box in injury time, virtually everybody in St James' Park felt a penalty had been given. Instead, referee Lee Probert cautioned Chicharito for diving, much to the visitors' frustration and bitter disappointment.

The best chances from open play earlier fell to strike partners Hernandez and Rooney - both denied by Newcastle's Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul - and to Ryan Giggs who swept Patrice Evra's cross agonisingly wide of an inviting target.

Further opportunities were scarce, however, and not even the introduction of substitute Michael Owen, to a chorus of boos from the home fans, could provide the golden touch needed to snatch victory.

Sir Alex made five changes from the FA Cup semi-final line-up including Chris Smalling deputising for Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs returning in midfield. Dimitar Berbatov travelled but was unwell and failed to make the bench as Wayne Rooney made his comeback from suspension to play in tandem with Javier Hernandez in attack.

The Reds started like a team on a mission with Patrice Evra releasing Rooney down the left and his centre seemed certain to provide a second-minute opener for Hernandez, only for Krul, deputising for Steve Harper, to pull off a superb save from point-blank range. However, the home side then enjoyed a spell of possession after that early scare with Edwin van der Sar dealing comfortably with efforts from Shola Ameobi and Cheik Tiote.

The league leaders found some rhythm again but Michael Carrick and Hernandez fired shots off target before Rooney skipped past Mike Williamson to go one-on-one with Krul. The in-form striker altered his body shape to try to finish with his favoured right foot but the ball struck Krul in the face and deflected over the top, even if no corner was awarded.

Nani became more involved but shanked a poor clearance by Tiote and then enranged the home players by going to ground under a Jonas Gutierrez challenge inside the area. No penalty nor yellow card was given by referee Lee Probert but it seemed to spark the Magpies into life again with Gutierrez lashing wide and Peter Lovenkrands wasting a free header when an accurate cross by the dangerous Joey Barton was misjudged by Smalling.

Lovenkrands blazed a speculative attempt high over van der Sar's bar and the hosts continued to cause problems with Carrick harshly booked when Ameobi went sprawling after a tangle of legs.

United were not on top form in the first half but ended the period with another dangerous break as Rooney fed Giggs but Hernandez's shot from the Welshman's pass was blocked and there was no time to take the corner.

The Reds started the second half with a greater tempo. Nani supplied a headed chance for Giggs before firing over and TV replays suggested Danny Guthrie was fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty when he handled inside the area. However, there was also an appeal at the other end when Peter Lovenkrands fell in the box between Anderson and Smalling.

After Lovenkrands almost profited with a header when a John O'Shea clearance fell to him, most of the chances were created by the visitors - the clearest of which was created by Hernandez and Evra for Giggs but the veteran sent a measured finish with his trusty left foot inches wide of Krul's right-hand post.
Antonio Valencia replaced Anderson but it was another substitute, Stephen Ireland, who almost made an instant impact when volleying wide after Ameobi challenged Nemanja Vidic in the air. It was a rare threat to van der Sar's goal but Sir Alex's side just couldn't break through. Nani cut in following a short corner to lash across goal and Rooney's shot was too high after a skilful dribble. With Owen thrown on for Nani, any late openings needed to be taken but Giggs scuffed well off target when O'Shea picked him out after a patient build-up.

The late drama will be the talking point for many as Simpson caught Hernandez but it was a huge call from referee Probert. Newcastle will argue about their own appeal involving Lovenkrands but that would have been incredibly harsh.

One last chance was created by Valencia's cross but Rooney was unable to divert a difficult header on Krul's goal despite climbing high.

At least the Reds have extended the lead at the top after a tiring weekend at Wembley but, after failing to score for consecutive games, Sir Alex's side will be looking to put that right against Everton on Saturday.

Match Preview : Newcastle United vs Manchester United

Midweek sees league leaders and Champions elect travel to Tyneside in search of 3 points that will edge them ever closer to the tittle. Newcastle have had an indifferent season, and after appointing Alan Pardew as manager, not much has really changed, which has more or less occupied a relatively safe position is regard to the relegation battle. Expect goals, and and entertaining evening. But this is that kind of a game where usually the better team wins.

Manchester United go into the game on the back of a morale-sapping defeat to bitter rivals Man City in the FA Cup semi-final, at Wembley. In a game where they had their chances, one can't argue with the fact that United were just not good enough on the day. Paul Scholes saw red for a dangerous challenge on Zabaleta, and will be suspended for this game, and crucially, Everton and a trip to the Emirates. The moody ginger-headed maestro will perhaps not be missed as gravely, with the likes of Anderson, Park and Fletcher all in contention to fill in. Edwin Van Der Sar blamed some fatigue for the limp display at Wembley. One could probably see where he's coming from, as United have played some massive games in the past 3 weeks.

Also, United welcome back Wayne Rooney after serving his 2-match ban for foul mouthing a Sky TV camera. He has been in fine form, holding a brilliant record against the Toon. Over time, the ability of United to respond well to crisis and bad results has characterized the club, and Tuesday should be no different. Expect United to come out all guns blazing, as they know that the Premier League is a major priority for them this season. They will be angry, and perhaps Newcastle will be at the end of a backlash. Also, Arsenal's disappointing last gasp draw against Liverpool will spur United on to kill the Gunners' tittle challenge (who travel to Tottenham on Thursday) Expect goals.

Newcastle, on the other hand, should not fear United. Despite their dismal record against the Red Devils, home and away, Newcastle are a team that can spring a surprise. St. James is never an easy place to go to. The passionate fans, and rocking atmosphere have earned the Toon many a result this season, notably an extra-ordinary come back from 4-0 down to earn a draw against Arsenal. Manager Alan Pardew knows the weather of a relegation dog fight, and will be first to point out the importance of picking up points wherever possible. Anything against United would be a big bonus. And with the incredibly tight bottom half of the table, anything could happen.

He will encourage his players to fight, and deny their illustious opponents time and space. Midfielders Kevin Nolan and Chiek Tiote have picked up most bookings this season, as Newcastle rank in as a poorly disciplined side. But, in Nolan, they have the highest scoring midfielder this season, with 12 goals. So, like mentioned earlier, expect goals ! Jose Enrique has been in fine form this season, and should expect a tough game against Valencia and Nani. Defenders Coloccini and Taylor are susceptible, and need to come up with a big game to keep United out. Else, that is where their major weakness lies.

It's that last stretch, and with the end in sight, United are sniffing glory. Newcastle would do very well to get anything out of this game. Expect United to win, by a comfortable margin.

Match Preview : Manchester United vs Manchester City

Saturday afternoon will be big one in London. Apart from the Marathon, and a game between Arsenal and Liverpool, Wembley will take centre stage as bitter Mancunian rivals United, and City take their fight outside Manchester for the first time ever. Intrigue is written all over this game, and one can tell the difference could boil down to the narrowest of margins.

The last time these teams met in this competition was in February 2004, when United ran out 4-2 winners, Garry Neville seeing red and Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldo starring. That was a very long time ago though. Since then, City have changed stadiums and undergone a revolution, with the massive cash injection of Sheikh Mansour. Players have come in and out, and City's charge to dethrone United's reign on the City has grown. The cross town transfer of Tevez, the dramatic last gasp wins for United in the recent past and Rooney's unrealistic volley earlier this season have only added more spice to this clash.

Pre-match hype is dominated by the absence of the two leading strikers, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez. Rooney serves the second of his 2 - match domestic ban for foul mouthing a Sky TV camera, as Tevez is ruled out with a hamstring he picked up in the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

MANCHESTER UNITED

United go into the game on a fine run of form. Signs are ominous for the Red Devils, as they come in on a 7 match winning streak. The last was an emphatic second leg 2-1 win over Chelsea. Typically, United have picked up the pace at just the right time. Boosted by the news of no fresh injury concerns, Sir Alex's men head into the game as favorites. Having had the better of City in the recent games, only a fool would refuse to acknowledge the fact that City are getting closer and closer. Sir Alex's men must play a fine game to reach the finals. With all due respect to the other semi-finalists Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City, this game is the final before the final.

At the back, one can't foresee too much chopping and changing. Vidic has been a talisman all season. His partner, Rio Ferdinand picked up a knock against Chelsea mid-week, but should start. The assured replacement of Chris Smalling should give Ferguson no worries. Right back could see Rafael return, but Sir Alex must ponder upon throwing him right into the electric atmosphere of such a high stakes game. John O'Shea played against Chelsea, and his experience could well see him start. Patrice Evra has been another rock on the other flank. The left back has been consistent all season and should start.

Midfield is where, ironically, United are starting to make the difference. One that was heavily criticized earlier on, has grown stronger and stronger. Credit must go to Michael Carrick, who has run into some excellent form and put in match winning shifts in both legs against Chelsea. His vision, calmness and ability to relieve defenders by providing an outlet are key is such feisty games. Expect him to start.
Park Ji Sung is becoming more and more of a cult figure at Old Trafford, as his return to injury and excellent performances against Chelsea stunned everyone. Whether he starts or not, is yet to be seen. His tireless work ethic and endless levels of stamina make him unique. Along with him, Ryan Giggs has too come to the fore since the turn of the year. Probably the greatest player in United's history, or atleast right up there, his mind boggling fitness levels have seen him go on, and on, and on. He played a role in all 3 goals against Chelsea, and may be given a rest. United have Scholes, Gibson and Anderson all in the waiting, providing adequate cover.
Nani has been another shining light on the left. Coming of age this season, and surprisingly left out of the list of nominees for the Player of the Season award, he is a remarkable talent. His trickery, pace and strength on both feet make him a very difficult attacker to stop. Shown the inside or outside, he is always a threat. Up against the powerful Micah Richards, this battle will be one to keep an eye on. On the other side, Luis Antonio Valencia's return from the horrific ankle break he suffered against Rangers early on in the season has probably made all the difference. One of the most complete players around, he is packed with breakneck speed, trickery, vision, strength and ability to cross. Rested in midweek, he is another one of the sure starters.

Up front, its options galore. Wayne Rooney may be missed, but in his place comes Dimi Berbatov. The lanky Bulgarian may consider himself unlucky not to have seen as much game time in big games, after bagging a handful of goals, but his touch of class, moments of brilliance and ability to find the net will make him more than a handful for Kompany and Lescott. Partnering him should be Javier Hernandez, who has remarkably risen to the fore since his 7mn transfer. A natural finisher, dangerous poacher and a man with an appetite to close down defenders and make a nuisance of himself, expect to see his name on the score sheet. Michael Owen , remembered for his dramatic 94th minute winner against City at Old Trafford last season is fit again, and could see some game time.

MANCHESTER CITY

Ambitious City know that the FA Cup represents their last chance of ending the 35 year wait for silverware this season. Mancini's men are still on track to accomplish their season objectives, although the turn of the New Year has seen their challenge for the league fade away. Would it be any sweeter, than to put one over Man United, at Wembley ?

Joe Hart has been one of City's best performers this season. Rising to first choice goalkeeper for England, he will be difficult to beat. Should City beat United, expect a big performance from him. And his defense !   ...
Richards and Kolarov are similar full backs. Strong and assured, they look to get ahead more often than not. But, they will have to be disciplined, because United's wing play is very strong. Valencia and Nani need no encouragement to run riot, and early bookings, careless passes and sloppy positioning could undo them. Vincent Komapny is a regular at centre back and will be relieved to see Wayne Rooney in the stands. The loss of Boateng for the rest of the season sees Lescott deputize. One thing is certain : Should City win, their defense must be at their very best.

City's midfield could be accused of being a little flat. De Jong sits in the hole and destroys. The combative midfielder knows how to put himself about and is key to closing up spaces which United's wingers could drive into. Garreth Barry and Yaya Toure are much the same. Both have excellent vision and passing. Whether they can match up to United, is a different question altogether. However, their physical presence could help them dominate the middle of the park, and allow the likes of Milner and Silva to occupy more advanced positions.

David Silva is a game changer. If given time and space, he has the ability and talent to punish United. His nimble footwork and remarkable quickness could open up spaces. Milner's powerful play, link up with the midfield and ability to cross all day long are key. Up front is where City will miss Tevez. The Argentine has alone plundered 22 goals, and his stand-in's Dzeko, Blaotelli and Jo have managed just 17 between them. Mancini must come up with a make shift forward line for City's date with destiny. Dzeko is a class act, but has not yet got going since his 30mn move from Wolfsburg. Yet, United should be wary of him. Balotelli is more volatile than a bottle of deodorant. Mancini would surely think twice before playing him in such a high-stakes game ! The likes of Shaun Wright Phillips and Adam Johnson can be called upon too. The skillful English winger has an appetite for big occasions and could be Mancini's trump card. But overall, you sense City must win the battle in the middle of the park to trouble United's back line.

PREDICTIONS
City may have the ambition, but United have the experience. This is the first time the blue half of Manchester occupy Wembley, and in contrast, United have been there too many times.

The stakes are high. Its been a while since United went all the way in the FA Cup and the abundance of experience and form tip the game in their favor. Don't expect too many goals, but expect one hell of a game.

God Bless You Jack Marshall

Jack Marshall, 5 who has been diagonised with brain tumour visited Manchester United's Training ground. He was happy to see his favourite player there and spoke "'I'd like to kiss you, Wayne. I think you are the best footballer in the world.''

Rooney, few days earlier who was banned for his foul mouthed comments was seen generous and busy making the kid happy.

The trip was organised by Ferdinand who was also seen spending time with Jack and his Family. Jack's mum, Tracey, and his father, Craig, published the pictures on their Twitter account.

Jack being an small wonder for all United fans all over the world for being a United fan and Roo's lover is being prayed by the fans all over. We also pray for his quick Recovery. GOD BLESS YOU JACK MARSHALL.

Biggest Rumour: De Gea To Be at OT Next Season

Sportsmail revealed last month that Sir Alex Ferguson had identified the 20-year-old as the replacement for Edwin van der Sar and the clubs have now reached an agreement which will see De Gea sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin claimed on Tuesday night that both Manchester United and Chelsea have made offers for the young keeper.

Gil Marin told Spanish radio station Cadena SER: 'We’ve received offers from both United and Chelsea, while he also has an offer from us to renew his deal.

'We’d like him to stay here, but David’s future is entirely in his own hands.'
Ferguson does not want to repeat the mistakes he made when Peter Schmeichel left the club in 1999.

Until Van der Sar arrived from Fulham in 2005 for £2m, United had failed to find a suitable successor for the Great Dane with a succession of failures lining up between the posts.

Mark Bosnich, Massimmo Taibi, Fabien Barthez, Roy Carroll, Ricardo and Tim Howard all tried but ultimately failed to provide a long-term solution for Ferguson before he turned to the Dutchman.

United are aware that paying so much for such a young player like De Gea is a huge gamble but they are convinced by the 6ft 3in star’s quality and have chosen him ahead of Schalke’s Manuel Neuer, Inter Milan’s Julio Cesar and Ajax’s Maarten Stekelenburg.

This is a out rumour collected from various sources over the net. We cannot confirm the news but we would certainly like to see him if Edwin is certain to retire.

Chicharito: Look Up Till Now

Javier Chicharito Hernandez the new baby face assasin has proved himself a jackpot signing. Proving much better than 50 million rated Torres who haven't scored in 11 matches now, the 7 million Mexican has gave a huge contribution to United to stay up where they are now. His amazing runs and superb goal scoring rate in his debut season has made a great impact and has helped Manchester United stay up in the top position. Undoubtedly United have the stongest striking line up in the world, and undoubtedly Hernandez is also one man among them. So we look Chicharito's performance till now for Manchester United:

Report: Manchester United 2 Chelsea 1

Wembley is within reach.
Only FC Schalke or Internazionale stand in Manchester United's way of a fifth European Cup final appearance – and a second on home soil – after the Reds beat Chelsea 2-1 (3-1 on aggregate) at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

There were nervy moments, sure, but United were never put under the sort of sustained pressure that was required to crack a Reds side that has looked so solid in Europe this season.
Javier Hernandez put the home side in front just before the interval before Chelsea's Ramires saw red for a second bookable offence 20 minutes from time. That appeared to extinquish any hopes the Blues had of reaching the last four, until Drogba popped up to equalise against the run of play.

Chelsea's revival lasted barely a minute, though. Ji-sung Park, so often pivotal in big games, struck the hammer blow, chesting down Giggs' pass inside the area before rifling a left-footed shot into the far corner.
Earlier, both managers had sprung surprises when the teams were announced an hour before kick-off. Drogba, Chelsea's biggest threat over the two legs, had to make do with a place on the bench, while Nani was recalled by Sir Alex Ferguson at the expense of Antonio Valencia.

United's other change came at right back. Rafael, who limped out of last week's first leg after sustaining a knee injury, failed a late fitness test. John O'Shea stepped into the breach.
Both teams enjoyed spells of early possession, although neither carved out a presentable chance until 14 minutes when Fernando Torres teed up Nicolas Anelka on the edge of the area and the Frenchman skewed his shot just wide of the post. That was the cue for a flurry of action.
Wayne Rooney let fly from 35 yards with a volley that swerved wickedly but ultimately nestled in Petr Cech's arms before Frank Lampard forced Edwin van der Sar into a smart save when he side-footed goalwards from 18 yards.

Before that, Edwin van der Sar had bravely rushed off his line to claim the ball at Ramires' feet and Fernando Torres had glanced a header wide from a Nicolas Anelka cross, while Ji-sung Park and Javier Hernandez had both spread panic in the Chelsea penalty area.

The visitors, knowing only a win would see them through to the semi-final stage, played with litte fear and Ramires and Lampard, in particular, sought to drive forward from midfield at every opportunity. And so the Reds were often camped just outside the penalty area, defending in two banks of four, while Hernandez stayed furthest forward and Rooney dropped in the hole.

For all the defending United were forced to do early on, though, it was the Reds who found the net first, Javier Hernandez heading home a curled Rooney cross from the right wing. But the referee's assistant on the south touchline had his flag in the air before the ball even crossed the line. It was a tight thing and on another day play would have been waved on. Not tonight.

There was momentary panic among United fans when van der Sar appeared to rush foolishly out of his goal in an attempt to reach a long ball. Indeed, Anelka got there first. But the goalkeeper turned on his heels, waited for his moment and executed a perfect sliding tackle to dispossess the Frenchman and clear the danger. It wasn't the first time van der Sar had won a personal duel with Anelka on the European stage.
Chelsea's early bluster blew cool as the half wore on. Instead, United looked livelier and spent long periods encamped in the Londoners' half. So it was no surprise when the Reds took the lead just before the break.
Again it was Hernandez – who else? - lurking within an inch of offisde. But this time, when he applied a finish into the roof of the net to Giggs' probing low cross, the assistant's flag remained down. United, in Sir Alex's 100th European tie at Old Trafford, were ahead.

The goal, the Mexican's 18th of the season, owed much to Giggs and O'Shea, whose clever interchange on the right wing cut out Anelka and allowed Giggs the space to dart into the penalty area and measure his killer pass to the far post.

When the net bulged, United's fans took the roof off. The roar was primal, a guttural howl of ecstacy that only a football match of this magnitutde can produce. Sir Alex may have described Chelsea's desire to win the Champions League as an obsession, but he was right when he pointed out United are just as desperate to lift the trophy again. And to do it at Wembley, the scene of the club's first European success, back in 1968... just imagine.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti withdrew January signing Fernando Torres at half-time and threw on Didier Drogba. The big Ivory Coast striker had posed problems in the first leg and again he asked questions of United's back four.

He screwed a speculative shot wide on 55 minutes just before the hour mark and won a free-kick when he tangled with Patrice Evra on the end of the box. His presence seemed to lift the visitors and when Salomon Kalou joined Drogba up front Chelsea looked a more potent proposition.

At the other end, Nani tested Cech with a stinging shot from 20 yards that the Chelsea stopper shoveled around the post, while Giggs spurned a glorious chance to double United's lead when he headed tamely at Cech from Rooney's delicious delivery.

Then came Ramires' second booking, issued for another foul on Nani, who proved a constant thorn in Chelsea's side. As Ramires disappeared down the tunnel, Chelsea's chances of Champions League success seemed to go with him. How would Carlo Ancelotti's men, two goals down on
aggregate, recover from this?

United fans didn't think it was possible. Drogba, though, had other ideas. The forward touched on an Essien pass, shook off Vidic's attentions and blasted the ball past van der Sar to give the Londoners hope.
But Park settled the game – and the tie – almost immediately afterwards. The Reds go marching on.

Match Report: United 2 Fulham 0

United may not have always played like champions on Saturday, but the Reds took another step towards a record 19th league title with a comfortable 2-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford.

Of course, each step at this stage of the season must feel like a giant stride to those teams trailing Sir Alex's men. Matches are running out for the chasing pack to haul in a United side determined to land a historic piece of silverware. the At the final whistle, United (with only six games to play) were 10 points clear of Arsenal, 11 clear of Chelsea and 13 ahead of neighbours Manchester City.

On an Old Trafford pitch bathed in sunshine, the Reds outclassed Fulham and, but for a nervy opening 10 minutes, rarely looked troubled. Even the visitors seemed to take their foot off the gas in the second half and for long periods it felt more like a training game than a competitive fixture. It was as if Fulham, who came into the match having won just once in their 18 previous trips to M16, never seriously believed they'd buck the trend.

That said, the Cottagers did start brightly. Gael Kakuta, on loan from Chelsea, stretched Tomasz Kuszczak within 45 seconds. Moussa Dembele then did the same with barely six minutes on the clock, while Bobby Zamora blasted wide after finding space inside the area.

Perhaps the raft of changes Sir Alex made to his starting XI played its part in United's slow start. With one eye on Tuesday night's Champions League quarter-final second leg, the boss rested eight players who'd started at Stamford Bridge three days earlier. Only Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic and Antonio Valencia survived.

Around them, there were rare starts for Tomasz Kuszczak and Darron Gibson, while Paul Scholes returned from suspension and John O'Shea and Anderson from injury.

Chris Smalling, in action for the first time against his former club since his move to Old Trafford last summer, looked every inch a distinguished defender.  He tackled fearlessly, passed assuredly and won the majority of his aerial duels in both penalty areas.

Of course, there was no Wayne Rooney for Manchester United as the striker served the first of his two-game domestic suspension after being charged by the Football Association for using “offensive, abusive and/or insulting language” in the Reds' 4-2 win over West Ham last weekend.

In Rooney's absence, Dimitar Berbatov led the line in what was only his third start in United's last 12 fixtures.  And it was the Bulgarian who shook the Reds out of their early slumber, firing United into the lead on 12 minutes.

Nani must be credited for much of its invention, the Portuguese jinking past a number of would-be Fulham tacklers and playing a neat one-two with Anderson before laying the ball off to Berbatov on his left to
finish with a cool side-footted shot into the far corner.

Fulham's early bluster disappeared completely. For the rest of the half, the home side was comfortable in possession and carved out regular chances. Anderson wasted the best of those the Reds failed to convert, screwing his shot wide on 19 minutes, while Valencia and Nani caused havoc on the flanks.

Those two combined just after 30 minutes to double United's lead. Nani reached a long ball ahead of Schwarzer, rounded the Australian goalkeeper and homed in on goal. Fulham's Aaron Hughes did enough to divert Nani's shot sufficiently away from goal, but it spun straight to Antonio Valencia, who nodded in at the far post from close range.

Anderson and Gibson drew saves from Schwarzer at the start of the second half, while Fulham substitute Eidur Gudjohnsen curled an effort just past the post that had the visiting fans celebrating as if he'd scored. It took them a good 10 seconds to realise the ball had actually passed the wrong side of the post.

Zamora then went close with a free-kick on 72 minutes, but it was a rare moment of genuine tension in a 45 minutes that will be forgotten as quickly as it began. United, too, were sluggish, doing just enough to hold onto the lead. It was understandable, though: the game was won, the points in the bag. Why waste energy?

O'Shea hit the target from distance and substitute Michael Owen wriggled into the penalty area late on, but in the end the Reds' first-half exertions were enough to earn three points.

Players, fans, even Sir Alex Ferguson, enjoyed a brief moment of celebration at the final whistle. After all, with just six games to play and a 10-point lead, the Reds' title chances look good.

But almost as quickly as the roar went up it subsided and thoughts turned immediately to Chelsea's visit on Tuesday night. That should provide a sterner test.

Why Sneijder Can Be A Ideal Signing?

United are continuosly reported to be linked with Inter star Wesley Sneijder. Sneijder being on great form of footballing action can provide United the missing charm. We have pointed out why Sneijder can be a ideal signing.
1. Lack of United Factor: With current young midfielder's lacking the United factor on the middle to supply enough balls to the front, Sneijder can be the man to bring back the old United factor. The Dutch man is in his peak form of footballing action and has enough expierence to hold on the demand of the United mid. With better skills and goal scoring ability from the front he can be a great signing for United.

2. Retiring of Giggs and Scholes being close: With Ryan giggs on wings and Scholes on the centre United always had the best midfield in the world. But as both of the legends are nearing their 40's and date of retirement there is possibility that United miss them bad in the mid. Even though Giggs have signed the contract for 1 more year but Scholes is uncertain of his future and he might even end his career by the end of this season United will need a proper replacement for him. So to maintain the streak of United midfield Sneijder must be brought up.

3. Hargreaves injury : Hargreaves the man who ever played, played for the team. The tremendous man with tremendous talent has been continuosly facing injury problems. Even though he had that factor to hold up the responsibility of United mid, he has merely played few minutes in years. United holding up on the lost hope of getting him back must now not risk the mid line up even though it has been reported that he has been extended 1 more year stay at Old Trafford respecting his hope and desire to play again for United. So to have the proper balanced and skillful display at the centre of the pitch and get enought ball for the strikers to net, the World Cup Star can be the best candidate.

We hope the reports go true and wish to see him being a Red Devil.
Glory Glory Man United.

Manchester United vs Fulham Betting Preview

Manchester United face Fulham at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday and are heavily fancied by the bookies to strengthen their position at the top of the table.
United can be backed for the win at best odds of 1/2 (bet $2 to win $1 profit) with Betfair, while most bookies offer 4/9 or 2/5.

That looks an attractive price to us as while Fulham have been in great form at Craven Cottage of late they’ve failed to shine away from home for some time now – drawing three and losing two from their last five on the road. Couple that with United’s devastating home form this season (fourteen wins, one draw, no losses) and the fact they outplayed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night and odds of 1/2 for a United win appeal.
Bookie's are favoring us to win, fans want us to win, and more than that, players want to win!

United injury news improving

Manchester United's injury list is reducing at the ideal time with defenders Wes Brown and John O'Shea and midfielder Anderson all available to face Fulham at Old Trafford.

The return of this trio will give Sir Alex Ferguson invaluable options as he endeavours to pick two winning teams in the space of four days - a line-up to conquer Mark Hughes' side in the league and then a selection to see off Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
That said, the manager will have to make his plans without right-back Rafael for the Fulham match while Darren Fletcher is still overcoming the effects of a virus. Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney will miss the first of two domestic matches - the other being next Saturday's FA Cup semi-final - following his FA-imposed suspension.
"Rafael won't be available for tomorrow but he should be okay for Tuesday," said Sir Alex at his pre-match press conference.
"We sent him for a scan and there's no bruising or ligament damage to his knee. He should be okay for Tuesday.
"Wes Brown and John O'Shea are fit. Anderson played for the reserves last night and is available for tomorrow. Darren Fletcher has put a bit of weight back on which is good. He's progressing not too badly now.
"So bit by bit we're getting players back. It's just a question of what team I play as I have to think about Tuesday. There will be some changes."
Sir Alex knows victory over Fulham is far from a formality. The Cottagers beat Blackpool 3-0 last weekend and are one of the teams who inflicted damage on United's away record earlier in the season.
"Fulham are a team who mirror their manager - they're very hard to beat. We need to perform," said the United manager.
Sir Alex is also hoping or rather expecting the home fans to be on form for the visit of Fulham.
"Our fans were fantastic at Chelsea on Wednesday and they will be at Old Trafford again tomorrow. They know the importance of being united at this time."
